April Fools

April Fools

What’s crackalacking friends? I failed in showing up for all of you the past two weeks and I want to apologize for that. There’s no excuse for it if I just managed my time better than I did. On that note, some pretty exciting things took place in the first two weeks of April for your boy. At the same time, these past few weeks have added some mileage to my engine. Beat-up is EXACTLY how I feel but it was completely worth it!

The first week of April, I became certified to introduce my snowboarding clients to the park. If you follow me on social media or have ridden with me you know I love jibbing, spinning, jumping, and treating the mountain like a skatepark. So it is super fitting for me. This certification opened my eyes a ton regarding my park riding as well as explaining & understanding maneuvers. I’m looking forward to putting everything I have learned in this examination to use next season.

In the second week of April, I leveled up on my Brazilian Jujitsu journey. Last Tuesday my professors, friends, and teammates deemed that I was ready to be promoted to a blue belt. It started like any other Tuesday Intermediate/advanced class until we got started training. Professor Nick and Coach Payden started us with positional training and once I got in Professor walked over and told me don’t move. Roughly for about ~45 minutes I got “put in the pack” by the room. It got tough, to say the least, but I made it through stronger than I was when we started. And that rush of emotions when you get called, man I can’t describe it, but I can tell you I was so excited and puked up I didn’t even eat that night.

In conclusion, spring is finally (somewhat) here in Colorado meaning it’s time to lace up the hiking boots, pull up the waders, and string up the fly rods. I’m all signed up for fly fish guide school next month and can’t wait to get in that ice-cold river water. Hope to see everyone outside!
